Ross and I are getting ready to head to my Mom's house to watch Lost. We are big fans, and we all get together to watch it. It's fun for us all to toss out our ideas on what everything means. Amber has the best memory from last season, which is a bonus. Plus my Mom has DVR, so we can rewind it if we don't understand something that was said, or just want to see something again. I love the show, but it drives me crazy...there are always more questions that are raised than answered. Oh well, I guess the goal is to keep people watching. It works...

No big plans for the weekend. Ross works; I would imagine that I'll do some housework. Believe it or not, there are still a few boxes that I should unpack. Actually, I should go through them and decide what to donate...if I haven't used what's in them by now, chances are I won't ever use the stuff. It's also getting to that time of year where I need to switch out the wardrobe in my closet. Take all of my short sleeves out and replace with the sweaters and long sleeves. Same with the sandals...I'm always kind of sad to see summer go, but I do enjoy fall. There's something about the crisp air, beautiful colors, and crunch of leaves under your feet. As I mentioned a few posts ago, I like winter until football season is over...I'm a bit nervous about winter this year because I have a much longer commute than last winter. Hopefully, I'll luck out...

When I blogged the other day, I eluded to the "cool something" Ross and I were doing the next day. That something was a "Surprise Housewarming" party for Shannon and Jeremy. It went off without a hitch. They were completely surprised, which is obviously the goal of a "surprise" party; but more than that, I think they truly felt the love, which made the rest of us feel great. We had a great time...there was food, cake, wine and even a little Trivia Pursuit. The group that was there consisted of most of the people who are making the trek to the Grand Canyon next May to see Shan and Jerm get married. As Shan said, we are all going to be spending a weekend together, so we might as well get to spending some time together now. A good time was had by all, that's for sure...Ross and I should really get on the Housewarming party thing. I know we'd have a really good time.

That leads us to today...the Packers lost again! 0 and 3....that's pretty rough. But I felt better about how they played today. They only lost by 1 point...bummer. They played hard today though, and would have won, if it weren't for a few bad brakes. However, 0 and 3 is a tough hole to climb out of...They play on Monday night next week against Carolina...let's hope they can pull one off, hey?

Happy Birthday!!!

Auntie Rita-Her b-day is today. She is not only a very cool aunt, but she is also a great friend. We have so much fun. I really view our relationship more as sisters than aunt and niece.

Cousin Sam-His b-day was yesterday. He is Rita's son...how cool is it that their birthdays are a day apart?! Sam turned 11 this year. I remember when he was born. It makes me feel pretty old, truthfully. Sam is turning into a very cool kid. In a few years, he's going to be chased by all the girls...just wait.

Nicole-Her b-day was on Sunday. She turned the big 2-5. That is really cool. Nicole is such a great friend. And she is such a sweet, geniune person. Our friendship is very refreshing.

Amber-Today is her Golden Birthday. 23 on the 23rd. She rented a room at a bar in downtown Racine. Ross and I are headed down there shortly. She is a great person, and I'm very excited to be her sister-in-law soon. My brother picked a winner!

Ross and I are doing something really cool tomorrow. I'll have to blog about that later though...

Ross and I had a great weekend, despite losses by both Notre Dame and the Packers :( We headed down to South Bend on Saturday morning for the Notre Dame vs. Michigan State game. We had a great time; the game was unbelievably exciting. ND lost in over time, but they made a great comeback at the end of the game. We had pretty decent seats, across from the student section. I think it was just as entertaining to watch the students!

We came home yesterday, only to watch the Packers lose, too! What's up with the Pack? They didn't even pull off the win for Reggie. They need to turn it around in a hurry. They got undefeated Tampa Bay coming to town next weekend with their rookie-on-fire running back, Cadillac Williams. The Pack started 1 and 4 last season and made it to the playoffs...I'm not giving up yet.

Today I was at a seminar for work at the Boerner Botanical Gardens. It was pretty interesting. At lunch, several of us took a walk around the grounds. They are so beautiful.

On my way home from work, I stopped at Borzynski's to pick up some sweet corn. Lo and behold, they got some Honeycrisp apples in! It is my favorite apple in all of life! They usually don't come around until October, so I was quite surprised to see them. How can one be so excited about an apple, you might ask? I all have to say is try one, and you'll know why. Yummy!!

It was pretty ugly...

...the Packers game, that is. They killed themselves with penalties. They can't expect to win a game with 14 penalties for 100 yards. Hello! Anyway. At least Minnesota and Chicago lost, too.

I can't let the Packer game ruin an otherwise cool weekend. Yesterday, Ross and I, and Shannon and Jeremy, headed up to REI. What a cool store. It was a little depressing however, because we just wanted to buy a bunch of stuff that we can't afford. Oh well, someday! After that, we headed to Greendale. I showed Shannon and Jeremy where I worked and then we decided to head to downtown Greendale. What a good call that was. I had always been meaning to take some time to walk around down there, and visit all of the cute shops, and I finally got a chance. We stopped at Ferch's Malt Shoppe and all had a tasty treat. We then took a walk around the park and just hung out. It was cool.

After we got home, Ross and I suprisingly got a second wind. We've been meaning to get some window treatments for a while now, so that's what we did. We were in desperate need for new blinds in our room. We also got drapes for the living room. The most impressive thing about it is that we even put everything up when we got home. Needless to say, we were a bit tired by the end of it all. Packers loss aside, it was a cool weekend.

Are you ready for some football???

Whoo hoo!!!! The NFL kicks off tonight. I love football season, and everything about it. The excitement; Packer Sundays at my dad's; watching game after game; checking online to see how our fantasy players are doing. Even winter is more bearable during football season. After it ends, though, winter is just cold...and long. I always go through withdrawal come the end of January/early February. Ross and I are in a Fantasy Football league again this year. I really had a good time with it last year, so why not do it again? I found myself more interested in games than I had ever been before. And if you are married to Ross, you might as well try to find some interest in the games, because they are on all day and night on Sunday (and Monday night). Although, I became a Desperate Housewives fan, so we may be fighting over the remote come 8:00...unless of course, the Packers are playing, because they always come first :) All who know me know that I am a huge Packer fan. I must admit, I'm not too excited about their prospects this year. But it doesn't matter, because I'll cheer for them no matter what. They always seem to end up with a better record than the so-called experts say they will anyway.

On a completely different note, and this note tends to be political...check out this link that Jeremy sent me. It's hard to argue with facts...I can't believe some of the things that are going on in this country and so many people don't notice it.

Today was my last half-day Friday of work. Next week, it's a full Friday. That is going to take some time to get used to. I haven't worked a full day on a Friday in a long time. It's not all bad...we are back to our normal hours, so that means I get to leave a half hour earlier than I have been. I should get a jump on some of the traffic and be home at a decent hour. It's also cool, because we are having an end-of-summer-hours food day. So, I'm sure people won't be working too hard that first full Friday :)

Today begins Labor Day weekend. I don't have too much going on. Ross is working, my mom is out of town. There will be a cookout at my Dad's house on Sunday, which will be cool. I plan to have some "me" time. I'll do some sunning, exercising, playing Zelda, napping and just relaxing...I'm looking forward to it :)

On a different note; the help has finally begun arriving in New Orleans. Unfortunately, I think it's a little late in coming. I can't even fathom what those people are going through. I just can't believe those floods. And the people looting. I can understand taking food or diapers or water, but looting gun shops? Come on...On top of everything else, those poor people don't even feel safe. It's awful.
