We're home

Ross and I got home today, a bit earlier than we expected. We planned to stay up north until 4 or 5, but we woke up to cold tempertures and cloudy skies, so we decided to leave around noon. We would have stayed longer had the weather cooperated, but I guess both of us were eager to get home to our house, too. This is the longest we have been away...it was kinda weird. But the house is still intact and doing great :)

We had a great time the whole weekend! It is always nice to see family, and we were all there. Ross got up on skis and looked like a pro! Sam and Sara tried...I think they'll get it next year; but they sure had fun tubing! I laid out and read Harry Potter and chatted. Besides getting stung by a bee, among other insects, all in all it was a great time.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot...Dean and Amber asked us to stand up in their wedding! Ross and I are both honored to do so. I got a bit teary even. The joke was they may have to let out my bridesmaid dress if I'm pregnant by then ;)

On another note, Ross drove the whole way home, and it allowed me to finish Harry Potter. It was a pretty heavy ending, let me tell you. It was very good, but now I have to wait 2 + years to know how it concludes. I was a bit sad when I finished, not only for what happens in the book, but also because there was no more to read. I think I just might go back and read them all again. They really are great books...

I'm looking forward to tomorrow, because both Ross and I have off. A bit of a vacation from our vacation if you will. I'm trying to get everything done tonight so we can just hang out tomorrow.

My favorite place in the world

Here I sit, blogging from my favorite place in the world. Ross and I arrived up north on Friday around 11:00. The Baxters and Dean and Amber were already here. We immediately changed and hung out in our suits on the pier...the weather was gorgeous. My mom and Moon arrived that afternoon. That night for dinner we had my grandma's famous spaghetti. We call it her real spaghetti, and we only get it about twice a year, so its a real treat! Later on, we sat out by the fire and had smores. I spotted the first satellite! It is always my goal to be the first to spot one. Yesterday the weather was a bit rainy, but we had a great time anyway. I took a nap, actually several of us did. It was a napping kind of day. Last night we went to the movies...we saw Wedding Crashers...it was pretty funny. Today has been just gorgeous! We have been outside all day, swimming, tubing, skiing (well not me). Ross got up on skis! He was awesome; I'm so proud of him. I went sailing with my grandpa and then all of us were in the water to get waves from my grandpa's boat. That is always a good time. Moon brought his scuba gear, but was having a rough time finding my grandpa's crib. All in all, it has been a great day! To top it off, Lance Armstrong won his 7th (and final) Tour de France! He is unbelievable. He won the time trial stage yesterday, and really went out with a bang. How cool is that?! Well, time to eat..tonight is the Baxters night to cook, and we are having beef stew....yummy!!

Congratulations Dino and Amber!!!!

My little brother proposed to his girlfriend of 2+ years over the weekend! I'm so excited for them both! I even won a bet with him. He thought that Amber wasn't going to cry. Knowing how much I cried (for several days even, just ask Shannon :) or Ross), I knew I had to take him up on that bet!! Anyway, I'm very happy for them both. My brother has come such a long way in the past few years, and Amber has been there for him through everything. What more could I ask for but a future sister-in-law who obviously loves my brother so much? I'm so proud of Dino D, and so happy that he wants to spend the rest of his life with Amber!

Congratulations!!!!!! I love you guys!

I'm done apologizing for being a slacker...

What can I say...it's summer, and there are just so many cool things going on!

The new job is going great. I can't believe how much I've learned already.

The summer has been so busy...but we are having a great time! I can't believe the 4th of July has come and gone already. That seems to be the unofficial halfway-point of summer, doesn't it? Speaking of the 4th of July..the whole weekend was fun. Ross and I did end up going to Summerfest. We scored some free tickets and free drinks, so it was kind of a cheap day for us, by Summerfest standards. We ran into my ex-boyfriend; he is actually the one who got us the free drinks. It is always a little weird to see him, but it is cool to catch up. I told Ross when we got home that night that seeing him again always makes me feel so thankful that I'm with him...

Have you been watching the Tour de France? Lance Armstrong is kicken' butt and taking names. Ross and I have been watching it faithfully. I have learned so much about the sport of cycling; there is a whole lot more to it than I realized. It is a science really.

I'm looking forward to next weekend. I'm getting together with my college roommates. It has been awhile since we were all together; I'm guessing the last time was at my and Ross' wedding over a year ago. We always have a great time, reminiscing about college...and I'm so excited to have the girls here to see our house :)

At the end of July we are going up north. My grandparents live up there during the summer, and I have been going up there my whole life; I can't imagine a summer without it. I can't wait...the whole family is there, and it is a really good time. It is my favorite place in the whole world. I mean that truthfully. As soon as I get out of the car after the 5-hour drive up there, it is insta-relaxation. It is an entirely different world. Different smells, different air, wildlife, natural beauty. I love it!!
